CHURCH INSPIRED BY ALDO ROSSI

‘La Chapelle’ @ l’ A.L.B.A

Prompt: Design a mountain chapel, drawing inspiration from a selected architect. (2012-2023)

I chose Aldo Rossi, known for his typological clarity and structures that evoke memory and communal identity. I keep returning to this project, whether by re-visiting it or adding more details.
The chapel is a sphere held in place by a field of pillars, shaped as its negative. You walk between them before entering, creating moments to reflect.
Without the pillars, the sphere would roll down the mountain.

“In order to be significant, architecture must be forgotten, or must present only an image for reverence which subsequently becomes confounded with memories.” ALDO ROSSI
