Walt Disney Modular Theater, California

KING LEAR

Developed in collaboration with the director, this production reimagined King Lear through themes of American identity, political ritual and power.

Working within the Modular Theater's adaptable architecture, the design carved a new theatrical landscape that positioned both actors and audience within Lear's gradual unraveling.

DESIGN STRATEGY: The Walt Disney Modular Theater consists of adjustable 4' × 4' platforms that can be configured from 1' to 10' in height. The design carves a new theatrical landscape within this existing system.

Beirut, Lebanon l Site Specific l CONCEPT PROPOSAL

HAMLETMACHINE BY HEINER MULLER

Located in the heart of Beirut is the structure known as 'the egg' or 'the dome.' Originally intended as a cinema or cultural center, its construction was halted by the civil war, leaving it incomplete yet deeply ingrained in the city's identity. It stands as a reminder of Beirut's ambitious past, its presence looming over the urban chaos, serving as a symbol of past dreams and present realities.

Inside the 'egg' structure, 128 Hamlets dressed in suits fry eggs, with a close up of their actions being live projected to the internal surface of the building. As the scene unfolds, the air is filled with the sizzle of frying eggs, a symbol both mundane and profound. The Hamlets, each absorbed in their task, crack eggs into hot pans, the sound echoing through the cavernous space. Amidst this orchestrated chaos, Ophelia consumes the eggs in the foreground.

ORFEO ED EURIDICE

This concept reimagines Orfeo ed Euridice through the lens of marriage rituals and societal expectations.
A monumental central structure frames repeated ceremonial acts, questioning conformity, identity, and the performance of the "ideal" bride.

BLACK DOT / النقطة السوداء / Սև կետ

Black Dot is an evolving series of site-specific installations that transform collective memory into a physical presence. Produced through local craftsmanship, each sphere is rooted in the history, material culture, and identity of its site.

GESTURAL CONCEPT

The story follows two lovers separated by distance, corresponding through letters in the segregated American South during the 1940s.

A rotating diagonal wall alternately reveals each character's world, keeping the lovers physically apart while the architecture embodies the emotional and societal barriers between them.
